Tomorrow, June 24th, Marillion’s Afraid of Sunlight turns twenty. In honor of an album that holds a lot of meaning for at least a few of us here at Progarchy, here’s a live version of the title track.

My favorite Marillion album. Couldn’t have made it through a family tragedy without it. Thanks, Gianna.

I absolutely love this album. “Marbles” might be my favourite but this one is so very special, emotionally and aesthetically.
Interestingly, it’s 20 years later that you can see that it indeed successfully portrayed the zeitgeist of a certain point in time (mid-90’s) which I think was one of the underlying themes of the album. I always have this ‘travelling back in time’ feeling listening to it.

An album that I hated when it first came out. It was not until a few years ago that I began to appreciate how great a release this is. It many ways the end of the classic neo prog sound that the band pioneered.
