Argentinian progressive/fusion band Pulsonica put out their most recent album titled “Fuera De Tiempo” in 2015. The band’s founder, drummer and percussionist Jorge Gonzalez told with Progarchy about the band’s work.
You released “Fuera De Tiempo” last year. How do you feel about the release?
We are very satisfied with the result. We think that we have taken a step forward, always keeping faithful to the style and sound that Pulsonica proposes.
How much of a challenge was to work on the album?
It was a real challenge for us, after having made an album with good acceptance like “Tribaloide”, we wondered about what else could we give to our audience, without falling in common places, or in compositions that resembled the previous.

What other artists similar to your genre that are coming from Argentina are you friends with?
We have many friends in Argentina within the progressive rock genre or progressive fusion. We can mention bands like Baalbek, Fughu, Láquesis, Trial X, Akenathon, Ünder Linden, and also members from legendary bands like Aquelarre, Alas or El Reloj.
What is your opinion about the current progressive rock scene?
There are very good proposals and excellent progressive musicians all over the planet, but I see that there are still many fans that continue attached only to the traditional bands of the 1970s.
I do not say that this is wrong, I´m also a fan of those great bands, but the new talented artists need more support from the progressive audience.
Can you tell me something about your influences?
We are very eclectic, our influences are varied. The list could start with King Crimson, Rush and Liquid Tension, and reaches up to Al Di Meola or Michel Camilo, without forgetting the great Frank Zappa of course.
What are you listening to these days?
Mainly progressive fusion, artists like Dewa Budjana, Consider The Source or Yuka & The Chronoship, among others. It is no coincidence that all of them have a great ethnic dose in their compositions.
Your 5 favourite records of all the time?
1.- Discipline (King Crimson)
2.- Tarkus (ELP)
3.- Spectrum (Billy Cobham)
4.- A Farewell to Kings (Rush)
5.- Romantic Warrior (Return to Forever)
Can you tell me a little bit more about the gear you use to record “Fuera De Tiempo”?
We used two percussion sets, the first one composed by drumset, timbale and xylophone, the other one has four congas and accessories, we also used electric and acoustic guitars, electric bass and a few programmed keyboards. Our guest musician (Pablo Iglesias) played Andean aerophones. The recording was realized with the band playing live and Fuera De Tiempo was recorded in only two days of sessions. Edition, mixing and mastering took much more time.
Besides the release of the album, are there any other plans for the future?
We will continue presenting Fuera de Tiempo in live performances and we have already begun working in new material, which will be part of the fourth Pulsonica´s album.
Any words for the potential new fans?
