Just some first impressions of Dimitri Toonen’s new solo album, Leave My Mind Sometimes. This is some seriously good music. The instruments, vocals, and lyrics feed the emotion in the music to wonderful effect. There is relative simplicity at the individual instrument level, but joined together it is quite beautiful. The music has its quiet and heavy moments. The electric guitar is smooth and calculated without being formulaic, and the acoustic guitar sets the calm moments nicely.
