   1. Sorry, once you hit enter you cannot retract. Decent technique, but I have to say after seeing all these guys live in their heyday, CP was one of the most boring soloists. Too much nonsense with the gongs and double bass drums and the shirt off, all got in the way of technique, and his ego definitely got in the way of moderation-which I think is the key for a great drummer. Don’t overplay. (Nick D’V is great at moderating his volume and fills to the music). Collins solos were much more expressive, and Collins/Chester often displayed outstanding coordination. I actually think Dave Matthews drummer is one of the most interesting out there, as is Marco. I am not crazy about Gavin Harrison as his technique is so precise that there is no emotional connection. For instance, I think Kompendium suffered a bit and would have been better served with a straight ahead powerful rock drummer in the big buildups. IMHO. Frank

      1. Thanks, Frank. My question isn’t exactly rhetorical. The video above is the first I’ve seen Palmer do something just on snare and I’m duly impressed. But I’m asking, and you’ve given us plenty to chew on (big Chester Thompson fan, btw).
