I’ve always wondered whether the incident involving Mary Dunoon’s boy was an actual historical event. Anyone know? One of my all-time favorite guitar solos, by the way.
Jon-
It certainly is a great guitar solo by the criminally underrated Steve Rothery. I’m not too sure about Mary Dunoon’ boy; the only information I could find on her was the story of “Highland Mary” of Dunoon, Scotland. I’m afraid that’s all I know.
It’s fictitous and Dunoon is a place in Scotland- maybe a testimony to some naivete on the part of Steve Hogarth? Still, the song makes me cry- it’s just so beautiful…
Listening to this will now be a yearly ritual of mine.

Glad you enjoyed it Hayden. It was the only Easter-related prog song I could think of, and it’s quite good.
